Major cloud providers are facing a shortage of AI server chips, leading to restricted availability and long wait times for customers. The shortage is hindering developers' efforts to create large language models and other AI tools. This situation is attributed to cloud providers not ordering enough chips during a cutback on cloud-spending growth due to their failure to foresee the increasing demand for AI servers.
